A progressive jackpot takes a small slice of every bet across a network of casinos and adds it to a growing prize. Mega Moolah, the most famous example, has paid several jackpots worth more than €10 million.
The trade-off
Mega Moolah's published RTP is around 88%, well below the 96% of a typical modern slot. A large part of that 88% is the jackpot contribution. In other words, most players pay for one player's life-changing win.
Does bet size matter?
On many progressives, the chance of triggering the jackpot wheel scales with your stake. A €0.25 spin has a much smaller chance than a €5 spin.
Should you play them?
Treat progressives like a lottery ticket with a game attached. Fun in small doses — terrible as a main game if you care about value.
